Biography

Casey Stamm has dedicated her professional life to standing up and fighting for individuals accused of serious criminal offenses. For more than twenty-five years, Casey has fought and won these cases earning the respect and recognition of her peers. She has received the Innocence Champion award from the Washington Innocence Project and the President's Award from the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She has also been voted a Super Lawyer by her peers since 2003. She has taught criminal law at Seattle University School of Law and she has written and taught many articles and seminars on trial advocacy and other issues concerning criminal defense.

Casey has maintained offices in Hawaii and in Washington state and handled serious trial, direct appeal, and post conviction cases in both jurisdictions for more than three years. She accepts the most serious and difficult cases at all stages including:

  • Trial – Casey is licensed in Washington and Hawaii, the United States District Courts in Washington and Hawaii, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. Her trial practice is vigorous and focused on achieving the best possible result in each and every case by litigating all potentially viable legal issues, effectively negotiating when an agreed resolution is possible and desirable, and/or persuasively presenting and arguing the case in trial before a jury.
  • Appeal – Casey is familiar with the direct appeal process in all these jurisdictions from beginning to end. For persons who have been unsuccessful at the trial court level, Casey will navigate the direct appeal process to seek justice and overturn unjust convictions and sentences.
  • Post-Conviction Proceeding – Where trial and direct appeal have been unsuccessful, Casey is adept at assisting clients with other avenues for post-conviction relief including petitions for post conviction relief in Hawaii, personal restraint petitions in Washington, and habeas corpus petitions in federal courts.
